3-year-old boy dies in his sleep: weeks later doctors make a shocking discovery

In 2016, Jasmine Shortland’s three-year-old son, Bryan-Andrew, contracted chickenpox. Fortunately, aside from experiencing a mild sore neck and some swelling, he appeared to be in good health.

One day, the 23-year-old mother decided to leave Bryan-Andrew and his older brother, Austin, at their grandmother’s house to prevent her youngest child, Ivan, from potentially contracting the virus.

Having previously experienced chickenpox without any issues, Jasmine believed that Bryan-Andrew would have a similar outcome. Unfortunately, her assumption proved to be tragically incorrect. What began as a routine illness quickly escalated into a devastating ordeal. Now, Jasmine feels compelled to share her story to raise awareness among other parents and help prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

In August of that year, Bryan-Andrew developed chickenpox, which, at first glance, seemed to be a minor concern. To safeguard her youngest son, Ivan, Jasmine opted to leave Bryan-Andrew and his older brother, Austin—who had already recovered from the virus—at their grandmother’s house for the night.

Jasmine and her partner, Josh, who was 21 at the time, enjoyed a fulfilling life with their three beautiful children. However, in 2016, they faced an unimaginable tragedy that no parent should ever endure.

The following morning, Jasmine’s mother discovered that Bryan-Andrew was unresponsive. Despite her efforts to awaken him, the little boy did not stir. Paramedics arrived promptly, but it was too late; Bryan-Andrew was declared dead.

Jasmine’s shock was profound. “The night before, he was running around, happy, laughing, and joking. It simply doesn’t make sense,” she recounted to the Daily Mail. The family’s grief was both unfathomable and insurmountable, leaving them struggling to comprehend how their beloved son could have passed away so suddenly.
