Amy Schumer Says John Cena Was ‘Actually Inside Her’ During X-Rated Scene

Amy Schumer has asserted that John Cena was ‘actually inside her’ during the filming of an intimate scene for a movie.

In the 2015 romantic comedy Trainwreck, Schumer plays a commitment-averse party girl named Amy, sharing the screen with Cena, who portrays Steven, a dedicated fitness enthusiast.

Her character struggles with the concept of monogamy, becoming involved in various relationships, including one with Cena’s character. Their on-screen chemistry culminated in a particularly notable and provocative scene, which both actors have discussed on several occasions.

Schumer previously expressed her amazement at Cena’s physique, remarking (according to the Daily Star): “It’s a whole universe, that butt… It’s not even human. It felt like having a refrigerator on top of me.”

In a humorous tone, she added: “I think it was probably harder for him. He had to, like, do something. I just did what I usually do when I have s**. Just lay there.”

The comedian also revealed a significant regret from the experience: “You know what? I didn’t get to feel his balls. It’s a major regret of mine. Major regret.”

Conversely, Cena characterized the filming of the scene as ‘awkward.’

In a 2015 interview with Conan, the professional wrestler acknowledged: “It was awkward. And they wanted awkward, so we gave them awkward.” During an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Cena elaborated on the difficulties encountered while shooting the scene.

He recounted how the production team informed him that he would be engaging in an exaggerated comedic s** sequence rather than delivering scripted lines. “Amy is an angel; she made the environment so comfortable,” Cena stated. “And then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a s** scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt s, and all those lines you had? We’re probably not going to use them; we’re just going to do this stunt s scene.’”
Despite his extensive experience performing before audiences due to his wrestling career, Cena acknowledged that acting in a sex scene presented a completely different set of challenges.

The actor elaborated, stating, “This is the reality – at this moment, you all at home might think it’s just the two of us. In truth, there is an entire world behind the scenes.”

He went on to describe the atmosphere on set: “Catering was situated right there, and the sound tent was nearby. A film production requires a multitude of people. There is nothing intimate about it. Absolutely nothing. It can be quite embarrassing.”

“They were essentially instructing me to ‘make it as awkward as possible.’ And having an audience witness that changes everything.”

“I wouldn’t say it’s terrible. It’s simply not what you might expect.”

Following the podcast, Schumer playfully reacted on her Instagram Stories, sharing a video of herself in bed with a caption that read: “John, how dare you.”

She humorously added, “That sex scene was significant to me, and I was genuinely invested. I’m in love with you.”

Cena also disclosed that he was reluctant to inform his then-partner, WWE star Nikki Bella, about the scene in advance.

In a previous interview, he confessed, “Nicole had every right to be upset because I initially didn’t tell her. I never really approached her with ‘I’m planning to do this thing.’”

“Nicole was justified in her anger because I should have communicated with her from the start.”

However, Schumer also shared some behind-the-scenes insights regarding the scene. When asked during an Australian talk show how she managed to maintain a straight face while filming, Schumer joked, “Because he was actually inside me. Who am I to stop him?”

Though clearly a jest, her remark contributed to the lightheartedness surrounding their on-screen chemistry.

Co-star Bill Hader, who was present during the conversation, interjected, saying, “Wrestlers, they’re not pretending. When they’re wrestlers, it’s real!”

To which Schumer humorously replied, “It’s real.”
