The Social Network

The Social Network is based on a real story so there are short programming sequences in the movie. However, the ones that are present are absolutely top tier. 

The story of the creators of Facebook and the subsequent legal battles that stretched out over several years. Told mostly in flashbacks while Mark Zuckerberg gives depositions in two lawsuits, the idea of a shareable social information site came to him one night after he hacked into his school’s database and published the photos of all the women at the school. One of his roommates, Eduardo Saverin, provides the upfront financing and Zuckerberg deftly outmaneuvers two other students who had a similar idea. The relationship with Saverin deteriorates and he soon finding himself on the outside looking in. 

The entire film is based on the ups and downs that came forward and how Facebook evolved as a platform and business. 

The Imitation Game

It is based on the real life story of legendary cryptanalyst Alan Turing. The film portrays the nail-biting race against time by Alan Turing and his brilliant team of code-breakers at Britain’s top-secret Government Code and Cypher School at Bletchley Park. The scenario is based during the darkest days of World War II.

The German Enigma code they tried encrypting had thousands of millions of configurations. Its involves many great personalities of the time as well such as Winston Churchill. 

Jobs

Jobs portrays the story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century. It also sheds light on the daily life problems Jobs used to face from the year 1971 to 2000. Jobs is definitely worth a watch because it fully deconstructs the life of one of the greatest technical minds ever.

Army Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) finds himself working on a special program where his consciousness can be inserted into another human being. The only catch is can only be there for 8 minutes at any given time. That morning, a bomb exploded on a commuter train just outside Chicago. He occupies the body of teacher going to work on that train and is confused as to what he is doing or why he is there as his last memory is of flying his helicopter on a combat mission in Afghanistan. Those in charge of the program explain to him that there is a bomb on the train, and that he must locate it. More importantly, he must identify the bomber as another bombing is expected later that day. He is also told however that he cannot change the past and can only gather information. As he develops a liking for his traveling companion Christina, he sets out to test that theory.
