Blues Brothers actress Dalyce Curry dies in LA wildfires

Retired actress Dalyce Curry, celebrated for her performances in The Blues Brothers, The Ten Commandments, and Lady Sings the Blues, has sadly passed away due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. At the age of 95, she was discovered deceased after her home in Altadena was consumed by the flames.

The news was shared through a poignant Facebook message from her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, on Sunday, January 12. “About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE 🕊️,” Kelley expressed. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Affectionately referred to as “Momma D,” Curry was last seen by Kelley on Tuesday evening when she was dropped off at her residence, unaware of the impending disaster. The following morning, Kelley hurried to check on her grandmother but was halted by a police barricade, only to discover that the property had been entirely destroyed.

In a frantic search, Kelley visited the Pasadena Civic Center, where assistance was being provided to displaced residents, but Curry was not among those present. Tragically, days later, it was confirmed that Curry had lost her life in the fire.

Family members fondly remembered Curry as a lively and spirited individual. “She was very active,” her granddaughter, Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, remarked to ABC7. “You would not think she was 95.” Curry’s influence extended beyond her family, marked by a distinguished career in Hollywood and her significant contributions to cherished films. She was a pioneer who made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
