Bondi, as new AG, launches ‘Weaponization Working Group’ to review officials who investigated Trump

The group will examine the legal actions taken against Trump by both state and federal authorities.

Shortly after being sworn in as the nation’s leading law enforcement officer on Wednesday, Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a directive to establish a “Weaponization Working Group.” This group is intended to investigate what she describes as “politicized” actions by officials who have conducted inquiries into President Donald Trump at both state and federal levels.

Bondi’s memorandum instructs the group to scrutinize the prosecutions initiated by special counsel Jack Smith and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, in addition to the civil fraud case filed against Trump in New York by Attorney General Letitia James.

The review will be overseen by the Office of the Attorney General, with assistance from the Deputy Attorney General and various divisions within the department. Furthermore, the group is required to submit quarterly reports to the White House detailing the progress of the review.
