California Sheriff Expresses Frustration Over Being Featured in Harris’s New Campaign Ad

In a recent campaign advertisement for Vice President Kamala Harris, a sheriff from California has refrained from endorsing her, citing a lack of support for law enforcement in her previous actions.

The advertisement features the vice president alongside police officers, emphasizing her experience as a prosecutor. It asserts that Harris intends to address issues at the southern border, leveraging her background in law enforcement.

The ad claims that she will take decisive action against fentanyl and human trafficking if elected president, as well as increase the number of border agents. However, Sheriff Mike Boudreaux of Tulare County expressed skepticism about Harris’s effectiveness in border management. He stated that despite appearing in the advertisement, he does not agree with the portrayal of a supportive relationship between himself and the vice president.

“Advertisements depicting Kamala Harris with me and other sheriffs to mask her shortcomings on border issues are misleading,” he remarked. Boudreaux proceeded to outline what he perceives as Harris’s failures during her tenure as California’s attorney general, particularly regarding the management of the southern U.S. border.

He criticized her for leaving the region vulnerable by cutting funding and dismantling task forces designed to safeguard citizens. “It is unfortunate that Kamala is attempting to present herself as strong on border security while implying that I and other local law enforcement officials endorse her,” Boudreaux stated.

Before halting his congressional campaign in July, Boudreaux, a Republican, sought to succeed Kevin McCarthy in Congress.

The National Desk (TND) reached out to the Harris campaign for a response on Tuesday, but no immediate reply was received.
