Canadian Premier says he will shut off power to 1,500,000 customers in America after Trump announced new tariffs

A Canadian Premier has asserted that he will terminate power supply to 1.5 million customers in the United States following Donald Trump’s announcement of contentious new tariffs.

Upon his return to the White House in January, President Trump authorized an order that imposes severe tariffs aimed at holding China, Mexico, and Canada accountable for their commitments to cease the influx of harmful drugs into the United States. This order includes a 25 percent tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and a 10 percent tariff on imports from China.

The 47th President of the United States articulated that the sole way for Canada to evade these tariffs is to become the United States’ “cherished 51st State.”

In a statement issued on March 3, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remarked, “Today, following a 30-day pause, the United States administration has opted to move forward with the imposition of 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 percent tariffs on Canadian energy. Let me be unequivocally clear – there is no justification for these actions.”

An announcement from the White House indicated that these tariffs are part of Trump’s initiative to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable for their pledges to stop illegal immigration and prevent the flow of dangerous fentanyl and other drugs into the United States.

The order highlights: “There is an increasing production of fentanyl in Canada, and sufficient fentanyl was confiscated at the northern border last fiscal year to potentially kill 9.8 million Americans. Furthermore, illegal border crossings from Canada have reached unprecedented levels over the past four fiscal years.”

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who recently secured a third majority, stated during a press conference: “If they wish to attempt to devastate Ontario, I will take any measures necessary, including cutting off their energy — with a smile on my face. They need to experience the consequences. If they choose to confront us aggressively, we must respond with even greater force.”
Ford informed NBC: “We [Ontario] provide electricity to 1.5 million households and support manufacturing in New York, Michigan, and Minnesota.

“If he intends to undermine our economy and our families, I will terminate the electricity supply to the United States.” Doug Ford has stated his intention to cut off energy (NBC).

During a mining convention in downtown Toronto on Monday, Ford reaffirmed his previous statements.

According to the Toronto Sun, Ford remarked: “If they seek to devastate Ontario, I will take all necessary actions — including cutting off their energy with a smile.

“They depend on our energy; they must experience the consequences. If they choose to attack us aggressively, we will respond with even greater force.”

He further stated: “That is precisely our plan.

“The provinces have significant influence, but it is the federal government that is spearheading this initiative, and we will stand united regardless of who occupies the federal government.”
