Chumlee from Pawn Stars was captured and faces an extended jail sentence
Austin Lee Russell, known to his fans as Chumlee from The Pawn Stars, reportedly informed a court on Monday of his willingness to consider a plea deal concerning drug and weapon charges stemming from a police raid at his Las Vegas residence.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Russell is expected to enter a guilty plea to one count of attempted possession.
He surrendered the firearms and drugs allegedly discovered on his property and has undergone three years of probation. Additionally, he is required to undergo treatment.
When law enforcement apprehended Russell, they claimed to have seized a large bag of marijuana and a small quantity of methamphetamine.
The recovered firearms included handguns, rifles, and an MP5 submachine gun. Police had arrived at Russell’s residence to investigate a sexual assault allegation. He was released on a bond of $62,000 and has not been formally charged.
As reported by Fox News, if Russell, 33, remains compliant, he may avoid further legal issues. However, should he fail to do so, he could face a sentence of two to five years.
Prescription pills, including Xanax, were also reportedly found in his home.
Russell’s attorney, David Chesnoff, stated that the reality star aims to move past this incident.
“We will evaluate the legality of the alleged search in court, rather than in public,” Chesnoff remarked.
“We both believe in law and order and are hopeful that the matter will be resolved appropriately.”
Russell is well-known for hosting extravagant parties.
According to sources, he possesses a firearm and frequently consumes cannabis.
The History Channel’s Pawn Stars recently announced that “for the time being, they are simply allowing the legal system to take its course.”
