David Letterman’s question that left Jennifer Aniston very uncomfortable

David Letterman was once celebrated as a prominent figure in late-night television, recognized for his sharp wit and charisma. However, upon reflection, not all of his interviews have aged well, particularly in the eyes of critics.

One notable instance involved actress Jennifer Aniston. Initially, it appeared to be a typical talk-show segment. Yet, revisiting it today reveals a different perspective.

A recently resurfaced image of Jennifer Aniston and David Letterman has sparked renewed conversations about one of the more awkward moments on The Late Show.

The interview, which took place in 2006, featured Aniston promoting her film The Break-Up, a romantic comedy in which she starred alongside Vince Vaughn, who also co-wrote and produced the movie.

From the outset, the interview took an uncomfortable turn as Letterman fixated on Aniston’s legs, offering compliments throughout their discussion.

Dressed in a black button-down blouse and black shorts, Aniston quickly became the target of Letterman’s admiration. He could not refrain from praising her legs, prompting the cameraman to zoom in for emphasis.

“That’s a tremendous outfit,” he commented, further asserting, “and the reason that’s a tremendous outfit is because you have tremendous legs. Fantastic legs. You can only wear that if you have lovely, well-shaped, muscular, lengthy legs.”

Aniston, clearly surprised, attempted to downplay the remark, laughing it off by explaining that she chose to wear shorts due to the heat. While she consistently maintained her composure, her discomfort was evident during this particular interview, where Letterman seemed overly focused on her legs.

Yet, Letterman persisted. As the dialogue progressed, he returned to the topic with another comment: “Your legs, you’ve got something there.” This exchange left viewers cringing at the time and continues to evoke discomfort today.

As if that moment wasn’t awkward enough, he swiftly transitioned to pressing her about her rumored relationships.
Aniston’s Legs Became a Topic of Discussion

It is well-known that Jennifer Aniston began a romantic relationship with her co-star Vince Vaughn during the filming of The Break-Up. In a subsequent interview, she disclosed that Vaughn played a significant role in her recovery following her widely publicized divorce.

During a conversation about Vaughn, David Letterman could not help but comment on Aniston’s legs. “I can’t get over your legs, I’m telling you. You have something there,” he stated.

Later in the discussion, he made another remark that appeared to allude to her legs, saying, “I hope to God somebody at the house TiVoing this because I can’t stop looking at this shot.” Although it was not entirely clear which shot he was referring to, Aniston’s discomfort indicated that it was yet another emphasis on her legs.

This was not the first instance in which Letterman made Aniston visibly uneasy. In a notorious 1998 interview, he grabbed her neck and playfully sucked on a strand of her hair. Aniston, clearly uncomfortable, used a tissue he provided to wipe her hair.

He then offered her a tissue to clean off the saliva, further intensifying the awkwardness of the moment.

Aniston managed to navigate the situation with poise, a quality she has consistently demonstrated throughout her career. Known for her ability to maintain her composure in challenging circumstances, she successfully kept the dialogue flowing.

Despite the discomfort of that encounter, she later returned to The Late Show, demonstrating her resilience in the face of even the most awkward situations.

Two years after her memorable “leg” moments with Letterman, Jennifer Aniston made another appearance on the show, this time donning an elegant pink party dress that once again highlighted her stunning appearance.

Recent viral images from that clip have circulated on social media, yet many viewers seem to focus on Aniston’s legs while overlooking what she was actually holding in her hand.

On this occasion, the Hollywood star showcased more than just her physical beauty. While attempting to evade personal inquiries, including one regarding her relationship with John Mayer, she also engaged in a more meaningful conversation.
Letterman promptly removed his current tie and, with Aniston’s assistance, donned a new one. She presented him with the Brooks Brothers tie she had worn on the cover of GQ magazine, remarking, “This is a highlight of my career.” Wearing the tie with a sense of pride, Letterman humorously responded, “Interestingly, the tie expressed the same sentiment during the photoshoot.”

“This is thrilling; I’m dressing Dave!” she exclaimed.

When the tie appeared slightly short, Letterman jested, “You know what they say about men with short ties.”

This lighthearted exchange elicited gasps from fans, who were taken aback by the unexpected gesture.

Although Aniston has not publicly criticized these interactions, it is evident in retrospect that these moments have not aged well. What was once regarded as late-night comedy is now igniting a new dialogue—one that is difficult to overlook.
