Dog found in dumpster wrapped up in duct tape: “I have never seen anything like it”
It is profoundly disturbing to witness the extent of cruelty that some individuals exhibit towards animals. Recently, a distressing case emerged involving a dog found with its entire head encased in duct tape.
Despite the tragic circumstances, the narrative concludes on a positive note.
On April 15, the Nebraska Humane Society publicized this alarming incident. Animal Control responded to a report from a concerned citizen who believed an animal was trapped inside a dumpster; she initially suspected it was a raccoon, only to be taken aback upon discovering it was a dog.
The condition of the dog was astonishingly dire: its head was completely wrapped in duct tape, its tail was similarly bound, and its legs were taped together. Additionally, it was reported that “food and other debris were matted in its fur.”
“I have never encountered anything like this,” remarked Kevin Wiederin, a staff member who responded to the scene, in an interview with KETV. “The entire muzzle was taped, and there was tape covering the eyes. It was just sitting there, with its front and back paws also taped together.” He expressed his disgust, stating, “I was absolutely appalled. It was the most repulsive sight I have ever witnessed. I cannot fathom inflicting such harm on another living creature, especially a defenseless dog, and then discarding it like refuse.”
It was fortunate that the dog was found in time; the Nebraska Humane Society reported that just thirty minutes after Animal Control arrived, a truck came to empty the dumpster.
The puppy was transported to the Nebraska Humane Society, where he was sedated, and the staff began the process of removing the tape. They had to shave his fur to eliminate all the debris.
In a Facebook update, the organization noted that while the puppy exhibited mild skin irritation, he was “otherwise healthy and appeared to be in good spirits despite his condition,” even “perking up and wagging his tail.”
Once the tape was removed, the staff was relieved to discover a microchip. The dog was identified as Leo, who had been missing for several days.
Leo’s owner, Erin Dillon-Pasillas, explained that the dog had escaped from her home while she was taking her son to school. She had spent several anxious days reaching out to shelters in search of her beloved pet.
“Each day became increasingly stressful…
