Elon Musk Considers Sending All Americans $5,000 Checks From DOGE Savings
Elon Musk has responded to a proposal on X suggesting that the U.S. government distribute a “DOGE Dividend”—a $5,000 tax refund for citizens, financed by savings from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The idea was put forth by James Fishback, CEO of Azoria and an external advisor for DOGE, who indicated that it could be supported by the $55 billion saved through measures such as fraud detection, contract cancellations, and regulatory reforms. Musk commented, “Will check with the President,” and later noted that the ultimate decision lies with Trump.
Although DOGE has received commendation for its role in reducing government waste, it has also been criticized for purportedly having unrestricted access to sensitive federal information.
