Emaciated Poodle With Acid Burns Found Unresponsive In Field Has Long Road To Recovery

Her journey began under dire circumstances, and she nearly did not survive.

The six-month-old poodle mix was discovered unresponsive and critically injured, abandoned in a field. Fortunately, she was rescued just in time and brought to Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs, where she arrived emaciated, with infected wounds and acid burns marring her small frame due to dye that had been spread across her fur.

The fragile puppy was terrified and required immediate medical attention. She was swiftly taken to an animal hospital, where she received fluids and was placed on a nourishing diet.

It will take several months for the sweet Junie to heal. She is gradually learning that not all humans are unkind and exemplifies resilience. The shelter has reached out to Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical Fund to assist with her ongoing medical expenses.

Every day, sick and injured animals arrive at shelters, many of which are already overwhelmed. They cannot refuse these animals, but their constrained budgets hinder their ability to provide necessary medical care. This is why the Emergency Animal Medical Fund was established—to help save lives.

Junie will be enveloped in love and compassion, receiving a second chance at happiness with your assistance. The shelter remarked, “She continued to fight, as her desire to survive grew. She truly is a miracle.”

Pets receiving critical care through an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be available for adoption until they have completed their treatment. If you are interested in adopting a specific animal, we highly recommend visiting the shelter’s website first, as it is the most current source for information on available pets and the adoption process. For further updates on Junie, please check the Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs’ website.

We aim to raise $3,100 to heal Junie’s injuries. Your support will not only provide her with hope to continue her fight but will also help cover the ongoing care she requires.
