Famous Star Was Contacted To Be ‘The Golden Bachelorette’
Several months ago, ABC was in the process of selecting a group of women to feature in the forthcoming series ‘The Golden Bachelorette.’ Notably, they reached out to the renowned soap opera actress Susan Lucci, celebrated for her legendary portrayal of Erica Kane on ‘All My Children.’
Susan Lucci faced a significant personal loss with the death of her husband, Helmut Huber, in 2022. He was 84 years old, and the couple had enjoyed a loving marriage that lasted 52 years. Helmut, originally from Austria, was a talented chef and a prosperous entrepreneur. They exchanged vows on September 13, 1969, and remained committed to one another until Huber’s death on March 28, 2022. Together, they raised two children and are proud grandparents to several grandchildren.
At 77 years old, Lucci revealed to People Magazine that ABC had approached her about the possibility of becoming the inaugural Golden Bachelorette, an invitation she graciously declined. In her conversation with People, Lucci noted her newfound appreciation for ‘The Bachelor’ series, even describing ‘The Golden Bachelor’ as a “new addiction for me.”
Subsequently, on May 14, ABC announced that Joan Vassos, a contestant from Season 1, will take on the role of ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ this fall. At 61 years old, Vassos openly expressed her aspirations during a Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour podcast, stating her heartfelt desire for love: “I really want love” and “I want to have somebody in my life.”
“I believe that life is more fulfilling when shared with someone,” she asserted, emphasizing her preference for this experience over traditional dating platforms.
