Benjamin Hall’s family has expanded with the arrival of another child!

The Fox News journalist, who endured life-threatening injuries while covering the conflict in Ukraine, and his wife Alicia have welcomed their fourth daughter, Sage Scarlett Jennifer Hall, as confirmed by a representative for the couple to PEOPLE.

Baby Sage was born on Friday, September 6th, weighing 5 lbs. 15 oz. at birth.

“Someone sage is someone who is calm and who is wise — I hope that our Sage will embody those,” Hall tells PEOPLE. “Someone who was sage was also a healer, and after all that’s happened over the last few years, that fits perfectly.”

“I think in general that we live in a world that is the opposite of sage — far too immediate, far too fast, where people don’t stop to think, learn and reflect, and I hope Sage and all our daughters will push back on that,” he continues.

The choice of Sage’s middle name is a tribute to two significant women in her life. Scarlett honors Alicia’s mother, while Jennifer is named after his own mother.

“The other girls — Honor, Iris, and Hero — are already the best babysitters, although there is a friendly competition over who gets to hold her,” Hall shares. “Our dog Bosco is already eager to play with her, and despite his size, he is remarkably gentle around her.”

“In that moment when I first cradled Sage, I was reminded that nothing in this world holds greater significance than family. Nothing,” Hall expresses. “My aspiration is to instill in her the values of kindness, thoughtfulness, curiosity, and courage, while also teaching her the importance of hard work and perseverance.”

“Furthermore, in light of the events in Ukraine and the injuries sustained, Sage serves as a symbol that no obstacle can truly impede you. Even when faced with setbacks, it is possible to rebuild and emerge even stronger and better than before.”

In March 2023, Hall shared with PEOPLE the challenging journey of his recovery following injuries incurred in Ukraine, which resulted in the loss of a leg on one side, a foot on the other, and diminished function in both a hand and an eye.

Hall arrived in Ukraine in late February 2022 to document the unfolding Russian invasion and its devastating impact on lives. Aware of the inherent dangers, he understood that to convey a compelling narrative, one must be present, stating, “the only way you can really tell a good story is to be there.”

Just over two weeks into his assignment, on March 14, 2022, he left Kyiv to capture footage of a ravaged town nearby. After a successful day in the field, his vehicle was struck by a barrage of Russian missiles on the return journey.

Above all, Hall conveys a sense of gratitude. “I look at my injuries and feel no concern, because I am here with my family.”
