We bid farewell to Rob Burrow, a rugby icon and champion in the battle against motor neurone disease (MND). He is fondly remembered in Leeds. The rugby community mourns the loss of Rob Burrow, a celebrated figure for the Leeds Rhinos and the England national team. He passed away on June 2 at the age of 41 after valiantly confronting MND. A memorial service was conducted at Leeds Civic Hall to pay tribute to his life and the profound impact he made on both the sport and the ongoing struggle against MND. Friends, family, and supporters gathered to commemorate his legacy. Approximately 180 attendees, including Burrow’s family, former teammate Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Tanya Curry, CEO of the MND Association, and James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, were present. The event, organized by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Abigail Marshall Katung, celebrated Burrow’s contributions to rugby and his courageous fight against MND.
