I Came Home to Find My Kids Sleeping in the Hallway — What My Husband Turned Their Bedroom into While I Was Away Made Me Feral
Upon my return home after a week away, I was met with an unusual scene—my children were asleep on the cold floor of the hallway. My husband was nowhere to be found, and peculiar sounds emanated from the boys’ room. What I uncovered incited my anger.
Mark had converted their bedroom into a gaming haven, featuring LED lights, a large television, and a mini-fridge. He was deeply engrossed in a video game, seemingly unaware of our children sprawled on the unclean floor like puppies. Enraged, I demanded an explanation. His justification? The boys believed it was an “adventure.”
The following morning, I set my plan into motion. I disconnected his gaming equipment and implemented a chore chart. Meals were served on plastic plates, sandwiches were cut into dinosaur shapes, and bedtime included a reading of Goodnight Moon. Mark was furious, but I remained resolute.
A week later, following a visit from his disappointed mother, Mark finally expressed remorse. “I’ll do better,” he vowed. I softened slightly but remained firm. “Good. The boys require a father, not merely another playmate.”
A lesson was learned—for the time being. However, should he falter again, the timeout corner will be prepared and waiting.
