Jay Leno, 74, suffers nasty injuries after falling down hill

Jay Leno, the renowned television host and comedian, has encountered a series of accidents in recent years. His latest incident resulted in noticeable injuries; however, it was fortunately less serious than some of his previous experiences.

At the age of 74, Leno is no stranger to perilous situations. In November 2022, he sustained significant burns due to a gasoline fire that ignited while he was working on a classic car. The subsequent year, he faced another dangerous situation when a motorcycle accident resulted in multiple fractures.

His most recent accident occurred while he was attempting a risky shortcut during his stay at a hotel situated on a hill. Leno was present at the Comedy for Kobe event in Beverly Hills on Monday, November 18, where he appeared with an eyepatch and visible bruises. The left side of his face displayed a mix of blue and black marks, and his wrist was wrapped in a bandage.

The Incident
Leno recounted that the accident transpired as he sought to reach a restaurant located at the base of the hill where his hotel was situated. Instead of following the designated mile-and-a-half path, he chose to descend directly down the 60-to-70-foot slope. Regrettably, the incline was steeper than it seemed.

“I fell down and rolled down the hill,” Leno shared with TMZ. He elaborated that during the fall, he struck his head against a rock, resulting in an eye injury. During the interview, he lifted his eyepatch to reveal that his eye was swollen shut from the impact.

“When I returned to LA, I went to the hospital,” Leno mentioned. “But it’s not that big of a deal; it’s fine.” Despite the incident, Leno opted not to cancel his planned comedy performance, taking the stage just three hours after the accident.

A Series of Unfortunate Events
This recent incident adds to a string of injuries Leno has experienced over the past few years. Earlier in 2023, he was clotheslined off his motorcycle by a wire stretched across a parking lot, resulting in a broken collarbone, two fractured ribs, and cracked kneecaps.
In a video discussing the incident, Leno humorously remarked on his predicament, stating, “I’m going to repair [the Indian motorcycle] and ride it again, because as you know, once a man reaches 40, it’s difficult to teach him anything… Fortunately, I’m only 72.” He contemplated the potential severity of the crash, mentioning that had he been traveling at a higher speed, the outcome could have been fatal.

In November 2022, Leno experienced significant burns while working on a vehicle. A gasoline fire ignited, resulting in noticeable injuries. At that time, Leno minimized the event, informing Page Six, “I sustained some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am fine. Just need a week or two to recover.”

Resilience and Commitment
Despite his series of unfortunate events, Leno has remained undeterred and committed to his profession. Whether facing burns, fractures, or contusions, he continues to perform and uphold his sense of humor. His recent fall may have left him injured, but it has not hindered his progress.
