Mommy issues warning after her baby son nearly lost eyesight due to bath toy

Bath time is often a cherished moment in the daily routines of many children, filled with splashes, play, and enjoyment. However, for one family in Illinois, a seemingly innocuous bath toy nearly resulted in their young son losing his sight, leading to a distressing experience that has compelled them to alert other parents.
Eden Strong was giving her 2-year-old son Baylor his usual bath when she observed that his eye appeared inflamed. Initially, she attributed it to water irritation. However, after a span of 12 hours, Baylor’s condition worsened alarmingly.
“His eye was protruding from his face,” Eden shared in a widely circulated Facebook post. “It was severely obscured. He was experiencing a high fever.”
Baylor was diagnosed with a potentially serious bacterial skin infection known as cellulitis. The culprit? A common squeezable bath toy.
“I later discovered that because these types of toys do not fully expel water, they can harbor bacteria that is difficult to eliminate,” Eden clarified. Those seemingly harmless bath toys that young children love had turned into a breeding ground for dangerous bacteria, nearly costing Baylor his sight. “They warned me that he might lose vision in his worse eye, but thankfully, his eyes healed in the end,” Eden remarked, sharing shocking images of Baylor’s swollen, infected eye to raise awareness among other parents.
