Oscar winner Gene Hackman and wife found dead in Santa Fe home
Gene Hackman, a distinguished two-time Oscar-winning actor, and his spouse, Betsy Arakawa, were discovered deceased in their Santa Fe residence, valued at $3.8 million. The couple, who had been married since 1991, were found on Wednesday morning alongside their pet dog. Authorities have yet to ascertain the time or cause of death, although foul play is not suspected. Hackman, celebrated as one of the finest actors in Hollywood history, appeared in more than 70 films, earning Academy Awards for his performances in The French Connection and Unforgiven. He stepped away from acting two decades ago to pursue interests in fishing, painting, and writing. Tributes have been abundant, with Star Trek actor George Takei referring to him as “one of the true giants of the screen.” Hackman was 95 years old, while Arakawa was 63.
