Prince William reveals that he and Kate Middleton let their dog Orla sleep in the same bed as them

Kate Middleton and Prince William have consistently demonstrated a profound love for animals, a sentiment shared by the entire Royal Family. However, the corgi dogs, famously associated with the late Queen Elizabeth, are perhaps the most iconic representation of this affection.

In 2011, the Prince and Princess of Wales welcomed their first dog into their family, showcasing their enthusiasm for canine companions. Following the unfortunate passing of Lupo in 2020, Kate Middleton’s brother gifted the couple a new dog named Orla for their three children.

Despite being a beloved member of the family, not much is publicly known about Orla’s life at the residence of the prince and princess. Recently, Prince William shared some insights, revealing that the dog has a rather unique sleeping arrangement.

It is noteworthy that Prince William and Kate Middleton hail from distinctly different backgrounds. While the Princess of Wales enjoyed a relatively idyllic childhood, William’s upbringing was marked by the responsibilities of being the heir to the throne, compounded by the trauma of losing his mother, Princess Diana.

Details about life in Adelaide Cottage remain scarce. However, Prince William did mention that their dog, Orla, often shares the bed with him and his wife.

The Royal Family has a long-standing tradition of pet ownership, particularly dogs. It appears that the future king has inherited this passion from the late Queen Elizabeth II, who had a well-known affection for corgis. Together, Prince William and Kate Middleton cherished their dog Lupo, who played a significant role in the naming of their son, George.

Choosing a name for their newborn proved challenging for William and Kate. However, they found a creative solution by involving their dog, Lupo, in the decision-making process, as reported by the Times.
They meticulously recorded every conceivable name on scraps of paper and spread them across the floor. Upon opening the door for Lupo, they observed which piece of paper he gravitated towards. The English cocker spaniel selected George, thereby resolving the matter.

“Our cherished dog, Lupo, has sadly passed away. For the last nine years, he has been the heart of our family, and we will miss him profoundly,” William and Kate shared on social media.

“When Lupo passed, they were heartbroken,” an insider revealed to the Daily Mail.

Orla, the new dog of Prince William and Kate Middleton

Shortly after bidding farewell to Lupo, the Wales family welcomed a new cocker spaniel puppy named Orla into their home. Orla has become a beloved member of the family since Prince William and Princess Kate adopted her from Kate’s brother, James Middleton. She will be a loyal companion to George, Charlotte, and Louis as they grow up together.

James Middleton expressed to OK!, “I am truly pleased that they can enjoy and benefit from having a dog in their lives. They are fortunate to have a dog as part of their family.”

The name Orla is fitting for a royal dog, as it translates to “golden princess” and is a popular name for girls in Ireland.

In addition to her regal name, Orla receives the utmost care at Adelaide Cottage, where she is even allowed to sleep in her owners’ bed. Lupo tragically passed away in 2020.

In mid-October, Prince William interacted with several students and dogs during his visit to Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Callington, Cornwall. He revealed that he and Kate share their bed with their dog.

Prince William has shown a deep affection for animals. He disclosed Orla’s sleeping arrangements when Louise Harland, whose dog was fond of the future king, had the chance to converse with him.
Harland expressed to Hits Radio Cornwall his profound fondness for his small dog. Upon arrival, Jacks greeted him and inquired about the dog’s breed. Harland explained that the dog is a cockerjack, a rather unusual mix, as he had never previously encountered that particular breed.

William further shared that Orla “enjoys cuddling,” the dog owner elaborated. “He mentioned that his little dog sleeps on the bed with him and Kate at night.”

It is always heartwarming to witness Prince William’s kindness when he engages with the public. If you believe he would make an excellent king, consider sharing this story with your family and friends on Facebook.
