Search For Missing 10-Month-Old Baby Has Come To An End After 36 Hours
In a somber development, law enforcement officials in Idaho discovered the lifeless body of 10-month-old Zeke Best over the weekend, merely a day after an Amber Alert was issued for the infant.
The tragic situation escalated when authorities apprehended the child’s father, Jeremy Albert Best, who was taken into custody under an arrest warrant related to the death of his wife. The discovery was made approximately 24 miles east of Idaho Falls, following a report from a concerned hunter who observed an unusual scene—a man, later identified as Jeremy Albert Best, found naked and wrapped in a sleeping bag by the roadside, making incoherent remarks.
According to police statements, the caller described the man as being unclothed and behaving strangely. An arrest warrant for Best was issued on Friday, as he was suspected of kidnapping his own child in Teton County, as per information from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
A subsequent investigation led officers to Best’s vehicle, which was found lodged in an embankment off the road. Tragically, the body of baby Zeke was located at the scene, prompting a thorough investigation involving the Idaho State Police and the FBI, among other agencies.
The seriousness of the case intensified as authorities revealed that Jeremy Albert Best was also being sought in connection with an ongoing investigation into the death of his wife, Kali Jean Randall. Her body was discovered in her residence in Victor just a day earlier, with the Teton County Sheriff’s Office classifying the incident as a homicide.
Detectives from Bonneville County, along with the Idaho State Police and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, are meticulously examining the scene and continuing their efforts to unravel the complexities surrounding this tragic crime, as reported by CBS affiliate KBOI-TV.
Jeremy Albert Best is presently held at the Bonneville County Jail, where he is awaiting his arraignment. Efforts to obtain confirmation regarding the appointment of a defense attorney for Best’s case have been unsuccessful as of Saturday evening.
In a heartfelt statement, officials conveyed their sympathies, recognizing the significant effect this incident has had on the victims’ family. “Our thoughts are with the family of the victims involved in this case,” stated law enforcement representatives as the investigation continues. The community is deeply affected by this tragic event, underscoring the urgent need for prompt and comprehensive justice in response to such an unimaginable calamity.
