Teabags: 7 household remedies that show why you should never throw away a used teabag again

There is nothing quite like enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning; it is an essential part of my daily routine. However, in the evenings, I typically prefer tea.

The process is simple: you start the kettle, and before long, you have a steaming cup ready, having first added a bag of your preferred blend.

After a few minutes, you remove the bag, dispose of it, and savor the tea.

Since my grandmother shared some useful tips regarding the reuse of old tea bags, I have ceased to discard them.

Explore the following innovative uses for used tea bags. You may find them surprisingly useful, and they could even help you save some money in the long run.

  1. Alleviate sunburns
Take a tea bag filled with black tea and rinse it under cold water. This will become an invaluable remedy for sunburns during the summer or while traveling. The tannic acid in black tea aids in skin recovery and provides a lasting cooling effect.
  2. Ease minor burns
The same tea bags that are effective for sunburns can also be utilized in case of minor burns. If you accidentally burn yourself, apply a tea bag to the affected area. The tannins in black tea will help soothe the discomfort.
  3. Eliminate warts
Did you know that green tea is rich in antioxidants that can inhibit the growth of warts? After allowing a used tea bag to cool, place it directly on the wart. After 15 minutes, remove the bag and replace it with a fresh one, leaving it on for another 15 minutes. After a few days, you will notice that the wart will begin to disappear.
    Alleviate Puffiness Around the Eyes
The tannins present in black tea can effectively reduce the puffiness beneath the eyes.
  4. On your next tea-drinking occasion, consider saving the used teabag. Store it in a small container and refrigerate it for one to two days. When you are ready to address the bags under your eyes, simply retrieve a couple of teabags from the refrigerator.
  5. Eliminate Grease Stains
Do you find yourself soaking dishes due to persistent stains?
  6. Fill your sink with water and place the dirty dishes inside. Add several teabags to the water, which will facilitate the removal of the stains.
  7. Natural Weed Killer
A teabag can be transformed into an effective weed-killing solution.
  8. Apply brewed black tea directly to the weeds, or create a mixture using citrus (such as orange or grapefruit), tea, and water. Additionally, black tea steeped in a jar of vinegar with orange peel can be utilized as a spray, as suggested in this tip.
  9. Organic Fertilizer
Tea bags can be composted to serve as fertilizer in your compost bin, and loose leaf teas along with compostable tea bags can be incorporated into the soil around plants.
  10. Roses thrive on this, as do houseplants and garden varieties like ferns. You may also bury the tea bags or loose leaves around the plants to promote growth directly in the root zone.
