Ten-year-old Kevin was taken aback when he discovered a concealed box within the tattered sofa left to him by his grandmother. The contents included legal documents and a letter that unveiled distressing truths about his father.

As the movers set the dilapidated sofa down, Kevin ran his fingers over an old juice stain, reminiscing about his grandmother’s warmth. His father dismissed it as mere rubbish.
