Volodymyr Zelensky says he’s ‘ready to sign’ minerals deal with the US and insists he ‘just wanted Ukrainian position to be heard’ during disastrous Oval Office meeting with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently indicated his willingness to finalize a minerals agreement with the United States, a deal that was postponed following a contentious meeting with former President Donald Trump.

Addressing the media at Stansted Airport, Zelensky underscored his desire for Ukraine’s stance to be acknowledged.

During their discussion, the two leaders experienced a clash, with Trump alleging that Zelensky had not shown sufficient appreciation for the military assistance provided by the U.S. This disagreement led to heightened tensions, resulting in the suspension of the proposed minerals agreement, which would grant the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.

Notwithstanding the discord, Zelensky conveyed his appreciation for the support received from the U.S. and European allies. He also noted that he is “exchangeable for NATO,” implying that his presidency could conclude upon Ukraine’s accession to the alliance.

In the meantime, European leaders are concentrating on strengthening defense partnerships to safeguard Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
