Woman reveals horrific injuries after beloved dog of 11 years bites her nose off in ‘unprovoked attack’

A dog owner has recounted a distressing incident involving one of her pets during a seemingly affectionate moment.

Shayna Crimo, a devoted dog enthusiast, has raised two dogs, but recently found herself in a terrifying situation that prompted her to urgently request her partner to contact emergency services after attempting to kiss one of them.

Upon returning home from an art class, Shayna was greeted by her dogs, King and Krieo. Tragically, Krieo has been diagnosed with cancer, a rapid development that Shayna suspects may have influenced King’s unexpected behavior.

The 31-year-old resident of Reno, who has tattoos of her dogs’ names on her arm, expressed that she is currently in denial regarding her emotional well-being. Having cared for King since he was a puppy for 11 years, she was taken aback by the unprovoked attack that occurred when she leaned down to kiss him.

Shayna noted that King has no history of aggression and has never displayed violent tendencies, yet he bit her. She recounted, “As soon as I went to give him a hug and a kiss, he bit me immediately. There was no growl, no warning, he didn’t back up, and he made no sounds. It happened so quickly.”

She described the horrifying sensation of being shaken and immediately ran to the bathroom to assess her injuries, screaming for her partner to call 911. Shayna also mentioned that King tends to dislike being disturbed at night, a behavior she has always been mindful of, emphasizing that such an incident had never occurred before.

There were no apparent ‘warning signs.’

As a result of the incident, Shayna has lost a significant portion of her nose and requires forehead flap surgeries for facial reconstruction. This occurred just days before her 13-year-old dog, Krieo, was scheduled to be euthanized due to a cancer diagnosis.

Shayna speculated that this situation might have contributed to King’s aggressive behavior.

She stated, “These dogs have been with me throughout my life. I have cared for them for over a decade… they are essentially my children. Do I wish to have King euthanized? Absolutely not.”

Shayna is currently facing the reality of missing most of her nose and the need for forehead flap surgeries to reconstruct her face (TikTok/@shaynabcrimo).

“I would prefer to remain at home for the rest of his life, avoiding outings and the need for babysitters, and simply being extra cautious, but that is not a feasible option.”

Tragically, just two days following her initial surgery, Krieo was put to sleep. While she continues to care for King, she is grappling with the difficult decision of whether to let him go after experiencing this traumatic event.

To assist with the numerous surgeries she requires, Shayna has established a GoFundMe campaign, which can be accessed for donations here.
