Woman who claimed to be Madeleine McCann reveals DNA results

Julia Wendell, a 23-year-old woman from Poland, garnered international attention in 2023 when she asserted that she was Madeleine McCann, the British child who disappeared under mysterious circumstances from a Portuguese resort in 2007. Her startling claims ignited widespread debate, with many regarding her assertions as a fabrication.

Recently, the situation has evolved further.

Utilizing the social media account @IamMadeleineMcCann, Julia sought assistance, specifically requesting to communicate with Maddie’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. She cited alleged physical resemblances as evidence and even appeared on the Dr. Phil show to present her narrative. However, after encountering severe criticism, including threats to her life, she ultimately retracted her statements and expressed remorse to the McCann family.

Julia clarified that through therapy, she became aware of her fragmented childhood memories, prompting her to question whether she had been adopted. When she approached her relatives about this, they dismissed her inquiries, leading her to explore missing persons databases.

“I never intended to cause harm to anyone, including the McCanns,” Julia stated. “I genuinely sought to discover my identity.”

She further remarked that had she the opportunity to revisit her actions, she would have chosen a different path. “I would refrain from using social media. It can be devastating.”

Recent DNA test results have introduced new developments in the case involving Julia Wendell, who is also known as Julia Faustyna or Julia Wandelt.
A report from the Daily Mail indicates that a 23-year-old individual asserts she has undergone a DNA test, with the findings allegedly evaluated by a “world-renowned expert.” This expert purportedly compared the results to DNA collected from the crime scene related to the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann in Portugal.

The unnamed expert is said to have concluded that the results “strongly suggest” that Gerry McCann may be her father. She has also utilized her new social media platform to disclose the “results” of this recent DNA test, which she claims Kate and Gerry McCann declined to participate in.

Compounding the controversy, the expert reportedly determined that Julia’s DNA is a “perfect match” with samples obtained from the holiday apartment where Madeleine McCann vanished in 2007.

In addition to the DNA analysis, she claims that specialists evaluated her eyes, teeth, and voice, drawing comparisons to those of Madeleine, the three-year-old who disappeared from her bed in Praia da Luz on the night of May 3, nearly 18 years ago.

Dr. Monte Miller, a forensic expert affiliated with Loma Linda University in California, has analyzed the findings.

“The straightforward conclusion is that the suspect is not definitively the source of the DNA found in the evidence,” Dr. Miller stated to Metro. “Nevertheless, the match is stronger than one would anticipate from mere coincidence, and there exists a specific pattern indicating a nearly certain familial connection.”

Refusal of DNA Testing by McCann and Wendell Families
In light of these startling results, neither Julia’s Polish parents nor the McCanns are prepared to undergo DNA testing to conclusively resolve the issue.

This recent development stands in contrast to previous assertions made by private investigator Dr. Fia Johansson, who in 2023 disclosed that Ms. Wandelt’s DNA results confirmed her Polish heritage. Julia’s parents maintain that she is their biological daughter and has no connection to the missing British child.
Madeleine McCann’s disappearance continues to be one of the most notorious unsolved cases globally. Her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have consistently asserted that she was taken after they left her and her siblings unattended in their vacation apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, to dine at a nearby restaurant.
