Published

on

The main aspect that differs a box office hit from a box office failure is how much revenue a respective film obtains. Trailers, promotional images and advertisements are the main points that attracts the viewers and insist them to buy the tickets. Some films win this part of the battle whilst others fail miserably. And this is why some are regarded as box office hits and some failures.

Although it must be mentioned that apart from the influential MCU franchise, several films have crossed the $1 billion mark. Here’s a list of those films.

Top Gun: Maverick

Tom Cruise makes a classy return to reprise his role of Maverick in this sequel of the 1986 classic, Top Gun.

Plot: Set 30 years after its predecessor, it follows Maverick’s return to the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program. While there, they must confront their past. As he trains a group of younger pilots and among them the son of Maverick’s deceased best friend.

Top Gun: Maverick surpassed the $1 billion tag at the box office in style. And is the only Tom Cruise movie to do so, so far. The ratings are also coming in abundance. This movie is yet to receive a rating below the 90% title.

Jurassic World 2015

After a big gap of 14 years, Jurassic Park fanatics once again saw the return of dinosaurs on the big screen in 2015.

Plot: A new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.

Well surprisingly, this Jurassic World adaptation only required 13 days to cross $1 billion at the box office. The ratings received on several different platforms were decent as well.

Furious 7

Furious 7 is one of the vast instalments the Fast And Furious franchise has released. The movie was released in 2015 and after that, several instalments followed.

Plot: The sins of the past seem to be catching up with Dominic Toretto, Brian O’Conner and his crew,. All when Deckard Shaw shows up to seek revenge for the travails of his younger brother. When a young unknown hacker who claims to have developed ‘Gods Eye’ is also thrown into the mix, things go haywire. Now Toretto and his crew need to save the hacker and also settle their scores with Shaw.

Furious 7 earned $1 billion at the box office after just 17 days of its release. Its also the first film of one of the longest running series to earn a billion.

Avatar

With its sequel, Avatar: They Way of Water, set to be released in December 2022, the Avatar film that was released in 2009 did quite well itself.

Plot: A paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.

Well its needless to say that Avatar crossed the $1 billion mark at the box office. It was made for greatness. Although it hit $2.85 billion at the box office. One of the highest earning films of all time.
