When Is The New iPhone 14 Coming Out

The iPhone 14 is expected to be released on September 7, with Apple announcing a date for its major Apple September Event. But, with only a week till the big day, we already know what to expect owing to a steady stream of iPhone 14 speculations.

The regular iPhone 14 should be very similar to the iPhone 13. However, with some improvements in features and specs over the existing variants. Along with the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, we’re expecting a larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max (or iPhone 14 Plus) with many of the same characteristics.

The iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to include a larger overhaul. It’s finally killing off the iconic display notch in favor of a new cutout design. The iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max will also have an enhanced main 48MP camera and a new A16 Bionic chip. As well as a probable always-on display.

iPhone 14 Possible Release Date And Price

You can stop speculating about when the iPhone 14 will be officially unveiled. Apple has scheduled an event for September 7, named “Far Out,” and we’ve speculated on what it could imply for the iPhone 14.

Bloomberg (opens in new tab), had accurately predicted the September 7 product launch. He predicts that devices will go on sale on September 16. Now, iPhone pre-orders are scheduled to begin on September 9, just a few days after Apple’s announcement.

In terms of pricing, the iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to cost $100 extra. However, it will come with 256GB of storage as standard, rather than 128GB. As a result, the iPhone 14 Pro may cost $1,099, while the iPhone 14 Pro Max may cost $1,199.

Can Apple justify the $100 price increase for iPhone 14 Pro models? We’ve thought about what Apple might do to ensure the iPhone 14 Pro provides decent value for money.

The normal iPhone 14 is predicted to remain at $799 (a claim supported by Twitter leaker Dohyun Kim(opens in new tab)), while the bigger iPhone 14 Max is expected to cost $899. According to leaker yeux1122, we may even see some models drop in price, which would be a very welcome surprise.

When a new iPhone is released, it usually spells the end of the line for earlier iPhones, with the iPhone 13 mini appearing to be the most probable phone to be dropped from Apple’s smartphone portfolio. As a result, we investigated which iPhones might be phased out when the iPhone 14 is released.

iPhone 14 Design

Thanks to renders shared by leaker Jon Prosser, we’ve been hearing clues of a design change for select iPhone 14 models since last year, right ahead of the iPhone 13 launch.

The basic iPhone 14 should seem similar to its predecessor. However, the iPhone 14 Pro variants are expected to look slightly different. While the Pro models will retain the flat edge design, the display notch is expected to be replaced by a pair of cutouts. One circular for the front camera and one pill-shaped for Face ID sensors. These claims are supported by leaked supply chain photos and other leaks.

According to a last-minute iPhone 14 Pro max leak, the replacement for the notch could simply be one larger pill-shaped hold rather than two cutouts. Furthermore, the space between the selfie camera and the Face ID module might be used to show your cameras. Or if the microphone is turned on.

Check out our rundown of what to expect from the iPhone 14 notch for a more detailed breakdown. In essence, no major changes for the basic model but a significant shift for the Pro phones. Apple has filed a new patent that demonstrates how the company could achieve a no-notch display on the iPhone 14 Pro.

iPhone 14 Screen Panel

And, certainly, none of the iPhone 14 versions are expected to support Touch ID. That won’t be as bad as we thought. Since iOS 15.4, Apple has made Face ID capable of recognizing a valid user even while they’re wearing a mask. It works extremely well, implying that Apple may have done away with the requirement for fingerprint biometrics.

Some schematics show the iPhone 14 Pro models with a higher camera array. It appears to be considerably larger on the iPhone 14 Pro. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this is due to the necessity for a bigger module to hold a 48MP camera. According to the renders, the basic iPhone 14 will not include a set of cameras flush with the screen.

A most recent tip seems to offer leaked images of the iPhone 14 Pro, potentially corroborating many of the previous design rumors. We also get a look at the various hues of the next generation of iPhones.

While the Pro modes appear to have the most fascinating design. The basic iPhone 14 will be joined by the iPhone 14 Max. This device is believed to have a larger 6.7-inch display. It provides users with a larger-screen iPhone without requiring them to pay a premium for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

What Do Others Think?

Not everyone agrees that this is a good idea; in fact, one Tom’s Guide writer wishes Apple hadn’t killed the iPhone small in favor of the iPhone 14 Max. Despite the hoopla, one editor suggests skipping the iPhone 14 Max(opens in a new tab) in favor of one of the Pro models.

One long-circulated rumor is that the iPhone 14 will have USB-C connectivity. However, it appears that the iPhone 14 series will continue to use the Lightning connection. However, a USB-C iPhone not arriving until late 2023, most likely with the iPhone 15.

The SIM tray is another feature that could be removed from the iPhone 14. Apple appears to be incentivizing consumers to forego SIM cards in favor of using their iPhones with an eSIM. SIM trays should still be there on some iPhone 14 models, but it appears like Apple intends to do away with them entirely with the iPhone 15.

iPhone 14 Colors

According to one source, there will be Midnight, Starlight, and Product RED color options as normal, with the existing blue being replaced by a lighter sky blue.

A Chinese leaker said that, in addition to the regular Graphite, Silver. Also, for Gold Pro iPhone hues, the new option for this year will be dark purple.

A leak allegedly showed real-life photographs of an iPhone 14 Pro, or at least a fake version of it. It provided us with another glimpse at the purple color. As well as a new blue tint that’s noticeably darker than previous colors used in past iPhones.

Meanwhile, purported iPhone 14 cases reveal eight possible hues. While these leaks do not include official cases, considering how case makers like their designs to complement phones, the colors may provide another hint as to which path Apple may follow with the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Display

We’re expecting a shakeup in the iPhone 14 lineup, with a basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro purportedly sporting 6.1-inch displays, and an iPhone 14 Max/Plus joining the iPhone 14 Pro Max in offering a 6.7-inch screen. That implies the 5.4-inch iPhone mini is no longer available.

According to a Shadow Leaks report, the iPhone 14 will have a 6.08-inch display. Then the iPhone 14 Max will have a 6.68-inch display. That is identical to the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Pro models, on the other hand, may grow slightly larger (to 6.12 inches and 6.69 inches, respectively) due to redesigned bezels.

Given that the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have 120Hz refresh rate displays, it would be amazing to see such a screen on all iPhone 14 models, most likely using an LTPO panel or an extension of that display technology that could scale down to as little as 1Hz.

Because of the usage of panel technology, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to have an always-on display. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims the iPhone 14 Pro will finally get an always-on display, which will be used to show “weather, calendars, stocks, activities. Also other data” on the lock screen, with the low refresh rate helping to preserve battery life.

New Updates From iOS 16

The ability to display such content on a display without having to wake the phone up would give next-generation iPhones an advantage over the best Android phones. And, as previously reported, the iPhone 14 Pro’s always-on display may simply dim(opens in a new tab), while the widgets take on a distinctive silhouetted, black-and-white outline appearance. This may theoretically allow you complete access to the lock screen as if the phone were turned on.

While iOS 16 beta code appears to reveal an always-on display functionality, the standard iPhone 14 is expected to stay with a simple lift-to-wake option rather than an always-on display. Instead, with its adjustable refresh rate, the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to offer an always-on display feature.

However, a more recent rumor suggests that the regular iPhone 14 models would have a 90Hz refresh rate display. This isn’t the fast 120Hz refresh rate we’d like to see. However, it would be a significant upgrade over a 60Hz panel. Another source confirms the disappointing specs rumor.

iPhone 14 Cameras

According to the newest speculations, the basic iPhone 14 will not receive a significant camera update. Now with a regular Apple tipster suggesting non-Pro versions will retain 12MP sensors. However, if this is the case, we can anticipate Apple to have done some software work to boost the next-generation iPhone’s photography abilities. As well as equip iOS 16 with more camera-centric features.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all iPhone 14 models will include an enhanced front-facing camera.

The largest camera changes, however, are expected with the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. A 48-megapixel main camera could be in the works in order to take more detail-rich photographs with improved light control and hence overall quality. This would imply that megapixels are once again important to Apple.

The ultrawide camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is also expected to get an upgrade. Especially with an upgraded sensor allegedly measuring 1.4 micrometers. It is a significant improvement above the iPhone 13 Pro’s 1.0-micrometer pixels.

Larger pixels capture more light, making the sensor more effective in low-light situations. And, given that Apple’s September 7 launch event is titled “Far Out” and appears to have a space theme. Perhaps Apple will highlight the new ultrawide camera’s ability to take outstanding astrophotography and night images.

iPhone 14 Chipset And Battery Life

According to speculations, the iPhone 14 will retain the A15 Bionic chip. While the iPhone 14 Pro models would receive a new A16 chip.

If you’re curious about how much extra power the A16 could provide, some leaked benchmarks may provide some insight. However, we believe that the A15 Bionic is so strong that having it in the iPhone 14 will be beneficial. Therefore, that you should not disregard the ordinary iPhone 14 models simply because they lack a silicon upgrade.

According to current speculations, all four iPhone 14 models will have 6GB RAM,. Also, up from 4GB on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. The base models, like the current iPhone 13, will reportedly employ LPDDR4X RAM.

Whilst the Pro models would allegedly use quicker and more efficient LPDDR5 RAM.

On the storage front, we expect Apple will stick with the storage options it offers for the iPhone 13. Which starts at 128GB and goes all the way up to 1TB for the Pro variants.

According to GlobalDate analyst Emma Mohr-McClune, Apple may also release an eSIM-only edition of the iPhone 14.

Battery Capacity.

According to a Weibo insider who claims to know the battery capacities of the iPhone 14 family, all models save the iPhone 14 Pro Max will see a minor rise in size. The 14 Pro Max is shrinking slightly, but hopefully not much enough to affect the phone’s overall battery life. Both iPhone 14 Pro versions are believed to have 30W charging, while the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will continue to have 20W charging.

With all of the talk around battery life and charging, we’ve been debating how long we think the upcoming iPhones will last. Even if it just applies to the iPhone 14 Pro models. We’re looking for not only longer battery life but also noticeably faster charging.

Following Apple’s acquisition of Intel’s modem business, future iPhones are expected to have an Apple-made 5G modem. This would probably allow Apple better control over both 5G performance and the impact on battery life. However, it isn’t expected until the iPhone 15 next year. For now, the iPhone 14 will connect to 5G and LTE networks using Qualcomm’s X65 modem.

While we’re on the subject of connectivity, an old iPhone 13 rumor has reappeared, claiming that the device would be able to connect to satellite networks. Now allowing users to send text messages to emergency services when cellular networks are unavailable.

That capability was not included in the iPhone 13. Yet sources suggest that the iPhone 14 models may include satellite connectivity as Apple strives to improve the emergency features of its phones. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the hardware for the iPhone 14 is complete. But, the only thing standing in the way of this feature is Apple signing a contract with a satellite provider.

iPhone 14 Max To Replace iPhone 14 Mini

The iPhone mini appears to be doomed, with nearly every rumor pointing to the smaller phone being replaced by a larger 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max/Plus.

People appear to prefer larger-screened phones, therefore Apple’s iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini failed to be huge triumphs.

However, if you want a smaller phone, we’ve compiled a list of the top iPhone 14 tiny competitors. Including the iPhone SE 2022 heading the pack.

Now that the iPhone 14 Pro models are poised to receive eye-catching enhancements, we believe it would be irresponsible to overlook the iPhone 14 Max. A larger screen without a hefty price tag may be exactly what iPhone enthusiasts are looking for, to the point where the iPhone 14 Max might be the most exciting Apple phone of the year and the phone to beat in the fall.

Having said that, display analyst Ross Young claims that the iPhone 14 Max will be the phone Apple produces in the least quantities based on display shipments. This means that Cupertino may wind up testing the waters to determine if a non-Pro iPhone with a huge screen is truly what people desire.

Be careful that the iPhone 14 Max could be released with a different name. According to leaker Lanzuk, Apple will brand the 6.7-inch entry-level phone the iPhone 14 Plus. Which appears to be supported by some leaked iPhone case packaging. The removal of the iPhone 13 small isn’t the only significant difference between the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 13. All of the major rumored differences between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 can be found in our comparison.

iPhone 14 Outlook

While we’re still dealing with speculations and purported leaks in the run-up to Apple’s September 7 presentation, we already have a clear sense of what to expect from the iPhone 14 lineup.

Both the normal and Pro models will be a development of what has come before, with the iPhone 14 Pro likely to receive all of the noticeable changes; see our early comparison of the iPhone 14 Pro Max vs. iPhone 13 Pro Max.

However, iPhones are built to last, and the regular iPhone 14 models should not be overlooked. Since they are still likely to provide a superb iOS experience.

For what it’s worth, we recommend that you avoid purchasing an iPhone 13 right now. Instead, wait to see what Apple may show next week. Apple is extremely likely to release another iPhone line. Which obviously will compete for the top spot on our best phones list.
